Teaching Assistant and Marker Positions
Department of Industrial Engineering
The following positions are open for the听Summer听Term 2025 (May - August).
听To apply, please mark 1, 2, or 3 after any position you are interested in. 1 implies high priority, 2 implies medium priority, and 3 implies low priority. A blank indicates you are not willing to accept that position.
You can choose as many 1s, 2s, and 3s as you want. You are also welcome to mark a 1 for the marker position for a course but leave the TA position blank or vice versa.

Definitions:
Teaching Assistant (TA):听an employee hired for the hours indicated to assist an instructor in the presentation and delivery of a course, who is required to directly interact with students and whose duties include a combination of the following: tutoring, marking, demonstrating, monitoring labs, conducting discussion groups/tutorials, proctoring, field trips and assisting with听online teaching and other duties of a similar nature.
Marker:听an hourly paid employee hired for the hours indicated to mark and/or grade the written work of students, whose duties include such tasks as marking tests and/or marking exams.

IENG 3304 - Data Management & Analytics
Part of term: May 5 - June 13
Positions: 2 x TA (65 hours); Marker (65 hours)
NOTE: For this TA position, applicants MUST be available during the scheduled lab times, and must know or be willing to learn听R听quickly.
IENG 3320 - Analysis and Design of Production Systems
Part of term: May 5 鈥� June 13
Positions: TA (65 hours)
NOTE: For TA positions, applicants MUST be available during the scheduled lab times.
IENG 3334 -听Industrial Statistics听
Part of term: June 23 鈥� August 1
Positions: TA (65 hours); Marker (65 hours)
NOTE: For this TA position, applicants MUST be available during the scheduled lab times, and must have taken a similar multi-variate statistics course.
IENG 3337 -听Business Operations & Entrepreneurship
Part of term: June 23 鈥� August 1
Positions: TA (45 hours)
IENG 3345 -听Operations Research: Stochastic and Non-Linear Models
Full term: May 5 鈥� August 1
Positions: TA (65 hours) Marker (65 hours)
NOTE: For this position, applicants MUST have successfully completed this course (or equivalent).
IENG 8891 - Co-op Report Reader
Positions: Marker (65 hours)
NOTE: Industrial engineering studies and/or experience, and excellent English editing skills required. Preference will be given to those with previous experience in the 春雨直播 Engineering Co-op program.
Required criteria:
- Have completed this or a similar academic course with a grade A- or better;
- For graduate courses, must have completed a graduate course in the subject;
- Enthusiasm for teaching and learning;
- Empathy for students;
- Precision in marking and giving technical advice;
- High proficiency in reading and writing in English;
- Work permit (for international students).
Optional criteria:
- Have experience in teaching/teaching assistance/marking (if qualified to TA a course, then previous experience as a TA will give priority);
- Graduate-level course in a similar subject (for undergraduate courses);
- Training in being a TA or Marker from the Center for Learning and Teaching.

Notes:
Some jobs may be听cancelled or reduced in hours听if enrollment is too low; hours may be increased if enrollment exceeds expectations. Final decisions on cancellation/reduction/increase will occur by the start of the course.
Candidates are advised to seek training in Teaching Assistantship from CLT if they have not already done so.
TA鈥檚 may be required to help invigilate quizzes and examinations.
There are only limited positions available in the summer, therefore many highly qualified applicants may be unsuccessful.
